I always thought a week is seven days and a year consist of four season. Wind was blowing over my head. I tried many ways thirsty to find happiness. I couldn't pick up my broken dreams. They all became birds and flied away without making a noise.
A friend isn't enough, two friends are excessive. And, there is no way between two options. Life is a fairy tale. One day it exists, one day it doesn't. If life breaks your heart, just breathe the fresh air. Our thoughts, beliefs, dreams are in trouble in this world. Waiting somebody to save them maybe.
How many of us has the courage to see the face of life? Always, shades are with us. Either with our happiness or our hurt sides. We can not get rid of these shades. Little by little, it steals the light in our eyes.

She is my cousin, Misal. She is already the princess of all family member's hearts. She knows how to make herself loved. She listens Shakira and dances.(maybe a rival to her). She has a very strange voice, you think she is from another planet. Also, she is very jealous. Although my uncle loves her the most and cares her all time, she gets angry when we take her little brother to our arms. She takes after nobody.( but my aunt says she is like her grand-grand mother.)
When i went to İstanbul in Bayram, she didn't allow me to go anywhere. She was always chasing me. Well, she reminds me of my childhood, because i, was too, very jealous of my brother and didn't let anybody to rest.

COULDN'T THEY BE AGAİNST THEİR DESTİNY?
When i see this photo, instantly put myself in her shoes. You can not even tell exactly if she is a woman. There is no sign of feminine characteristic. Just two fogged eyes. Even, you can not see them clearly. Because the the black tule is also a barrier between her and the world. They are born with this black destiny, but should they submit? Or rebel? Rebel to whom and how?
We can not stand even to restriction of when we sleep, but suppose that you were born in such a society, what would you do?

When i was drowning in myself, i used to condemning the roaring sound of laughter. But, i realized that, sometimes ,my cry of joy may put down the bitter cries of others sufferings. Maybe this is the rule of life. What if the whole world cry or laugh together? For me, i can't think of something like that. There is no meaning in my tears coming down, when everybody is crying. I would understand nothing from life if everybody had a happy face. And, sometimes conflicts can open a quite different path for us. Everybody's getting on well doesn't solve anything. Because when there is sound of contrast, it is dangerous. We have to question such a relation.

Life!

Do you play with us? Or do you cry and laugh with us? Maybe, you are making fun of us. Whatever you do, we can't walk without holding your hands.

Jyoti Amge is 15 years old and is only 61 cm. Indian girl will no longer grow, but she says ''I am the same as you, i have no difference'' And the world's smallest girl is proud of her body, goes to school. What about us? Are we happy with what we are or do we question our and especially others' phsical characteristics? I think we have to find answers to a lot of questions after seeing this girl

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chilliest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me
We all have different perspectives of hope and it is such a delicate thing. We call some events as miracle; but i think, the real miracle is HOPE. It is very light, it will not be a heavy burden on you like the bitter realities of world. Hope can help us fly as feathers help birds. Also, feather keeps birds warm, keep the cold away. Hope is warm, too. It keep your heart warm in storms, in chilly weather or whenever you need. But, if you forget it, you have to stand lonely against hardships.
I want to share one of my silliest childhood memories. Actually, at first, i couldn't decide whether to tell it or not, because still my relatives make fun of me. But,anyway, i got accustomed to this and decided to share it.
I and our neighbour child, Adem, were enjoying the snow that winter. We believed that snow was coming from Heaven. We played joyfully with it as if it were our best friend. But we know that it would melt and we would seperate. Suddenly, I,the genius, had a bright idea.I said Adem'' why not save this snow to summer so that we could enjoy it when there is no snow anywhere'' Adem either liked the idea or from fear(because a week before a throwed a stone to his head and it bled.) he accepted. We searched for sth to keep the snow in and we found a Helva can, and picked some clean snow. We were relaxed and happy to think that when hot days would come, we would have snow to play with. Months went by and summer came. We impatiantly rushed to discover our treasure. But, with disbelief and disappoinment,we found nothing. I still not aware of the fact, screamed ''Who did steal our snow ? Whoever she/he is, they will regret it.
With tears and nobody to blame, I began to beat Adem.He swore '' I did nothing, believe me''
Though it was silly , i find sth soothing in remembering my childhood. I think it is because we were so innocent, not aware of the world's tricks and games.

Child abuse and neglect

Children have always been exposed to to violence in society; especially in schools, in orphanages, in refugee camps and war zones, in fields and factories, in detentions. Millions of them have no access to education, work long hours under hazardous conditions, are forced to become soldiers, languish in orphanages or detentions. Some of the problems for these pains are; failure to consistently initiate or complete investigations of child abuse and neglect, failure to adequuately train and supervise social workers, failure to provide approiate supervision and services after investigation.
Despite the convention on child rights, it doesnt go beyond the tip of pen. But, it must go from abstact rights to realities if we are claiming ourselves as humans.

the circle of love

Autumn is a lover who is waiting for his beloved one to come. He is desperate and crying. With every falling leaf, he loses his hope. His hopes are scattering all around and he has no one to gather them together. Rain damps leaves, actually their secret love letters. And the smell of their love comes to our nose. Rustling leaves are actually the sound of immortal but broken love. When I walk through a road in autumn, i remember all things i left behind. Things i have no chance to return. Things i have no power on anymore; but just missing and feeling regret for them.It is the end of youth and a step to die. The relief of no rush for worldly things. Just a time to quench your hunger for spirutual meaning. Some flames of youth twinkle in your eyes and your child innocence smiles you back.Despite not reminding joyful things, autumn has a realy special place in my life. A journey to myself. I explore my not spoken emotions and thougts

A person or a world without love is like a river without water. From the beginning of life and until the end of universe, love is with human and nature. But, what is love? For me, love is knowing how to look, seeing the other side of all creatures living or nonliving, feeling their souls, understanding why we are created and mistics of life and all religions. Of course, it has a wider and more changing meaning. But, the base of love is sacred because it is a God given emotion and ,so it is inborn actually. It is not like democracy or traditions. It is not given you by society or power, government. So maybe it has no insurance but it is the gate to our inner worlds, other dimension. You may feel love for sun’s arousal, a tree’s budding, leaf’s getting yellow. You can also love your deficiencies, inabilities, because all these things mean life and are given us to learn to live with them. When thought spirutally love is a complimentary of human, but just phsical love can make you feel ill and it will take a lot of thing from your soul. Just love because it is a part of universe, it is created just like us, as a living organism. Without it we now, wouldn’t have philophies, civilisations, knowledge… It is love that make man stand against challanges of life. So it is the power to live
Early in the morning, i was awaken by my intellectual grand-grand mother's WAND. She said she wanted to chat with Obama so i was expected to open the COMPUTER. Firstly, she made a call to him with her MOBİLE PHONE. And, Obama asked her ideas about recent UFOs news. Grandma began to cry and said '' I want FLOWERS not UFOs.'' At that moment my mother was chasing after white MOUSE that was making strange noises after midnight. Fortunately for little creature, it took my COAT as shelter from its killer. There the mouse began to write its BOOK about Armenian genocide which would be this years bestseller and award winning book. I decided to escape from this house and gain my money by playing TROMBONE in the streets and began to prepare my BAG. I would take my NOTEBOOK , but hard -faced mouse had already made it a delicious evening meal with her BABY. Just then, thanks God, my FRIEND came to my cry for help. While going my grandma was still shouting at me'' Find my HEADPHONES and then, you can go whichever hell you want.'' These were the last words i heard from that house.

Dear World,

How many centuries will this struggle last? Has it no end? How cruel people are! How difficult to tell anyone i am miserable. To feel as if i am rolling down a hell and slippering in a blank. Is there any worth to look the sky's eyes and for a colour that will change your sight? to be lost in the hotness of the sun and waiting for a bright , lieless smile...That is all. Floating along a guiet river and exhausted with rowing. Sentenced with my whole life. I am convicted to your smile, listen, what this broken heart is screaming to you. And ask where and when these tears are pouring.

economic crisis

Everybody is uneasy about current state of economy, but what has caused all this? Firstly, housing markets has a big role. Falling housing prices, shortage of finance and collapsing confidence have caused the economy to decline. big declines in the stock market reduce people’s wealth . Investment and consumer spending has fallen and so unemployment has risen. Also, this can be credited to loans. people give and receve loans higher than ones they can afford.Fannie May and Freddie Mac were the first to fall. They were two largest mortgage companies. Also falling were Lehman Brothers and Merill Lynch, two of largest banks in America one of which Lehman Brothers even survived through great depression. And finally was insurance giant AIG. All of them were allowed to go bankrupt. These recent events show that economy is not stable. It must be fixed in some way or another. This can result in a credit crisis which would cripple our economy and send us into deep recession. This is like a water in a dam. If there is a leak and you put your finger in it, the leak will stop, but it will build pressure so much that another leak will spring. Companies began struggling one by one and now whole financial system is in crisis.Since the economy is primarily based on a consumer and service economy unlike 1930s which was based o agriculture and manufacturing, i think if consumer confidence rises, everthing will be better. It wont be a depression but it wont feel good also.Turkish economy tries to pass through global crisis with minimum damage. Financial institutions and bodies were closely monitoring banking system and Turkey established a strong financial sector before crisis hit it.We can say the world is cautious about crisis because nobody wants to see another Great Depression

effective teacher

Teaching isn’t simply the task of giving information o academic subjects. Your personal characteristics and general culture knowledge also affect students learning.Knowing how to teach and making students aware of why they learn, that is making them concsious of learning process is important. We may say to this ” creating a vision”. A vision of world, a vision of philosophy, a vision of education, traditions, social life and most importantly a vision of themselves ” whom they are?” should be created. Students must find their own identity, they shouldn’t wrap into others identity or roles. So, to achieve this, teacher should be aware of his students ”’individuality” and approach according to this. Students aren’t ass burdened with knowledge.. Things about life also should be included. The most effective thing i learned from my English teacher was that. He still says me ”Everything isn’t just studying, learning subject stuffs, you will learn the importance of lifelong friendship and thrust”’ And, his mail adress he uses for us was ”’forever together”. Yes you may say it is impossible to keep in touch forever but why not try? Last week, he came Ankara (a surprise fr me) and called me” Well, do you know where i am now” and i said fondly ” hımm, in school, Siirt of course” he answered ” i am in Kızılay and wondering around”. I went crazy and breathlessly, canceling all my programs, i rushed to Kızılay. And i felt so refreshed after, lonely face of Ankara diminished for me.As for three gualities, i may say flexibility is indipensable. Everthing can not be perfect so being flexible is actually unavoidable. Also, enthusiasm of teacher affects students a lot. Even when a teacher doesn’t know a lot about subject, his effort makes us appreciate and admire him. Fairness, being friendly, holding high expectations for success, being aware of students needs, being patient, credibility, being encouraging and supportive, providing corrective feedback rather than mere critize, using creative ways for teaching, theatrical styles are needed if you want to be an effective teacher and help students learn better.
As for English teachers, the most noticeable thing is their warm interaction with students and sociability. i think this quality makes other teachers and students jealous of them. And, mostly classroom environment makes you feel at home so learning capacity of students is enhanced. But incorrect strategies can cost lifelong, noncurable effects on students. I can give an example of my teacher at high school. He was perfect at teaching strategies. He was so confident and even arrogant about himself that he was always putting himself forward as the ”creator of success”He said ” i am the best teacher so my students will be the most successful in the exam. To prove his aims, he made the students memorize all things and loaded his students with so much homework that they were bored with English. At first they studied a lot, but later when approaching the peak, they gave up. They just studied to finish homework, to get high grades not to learn sth. his claim to be the most successful caused his students 1 more year. A teacher who has a love for teaching can not do such things.

May every dream come true???

Actually, man’s challanges began when Eve ate the Green Apple, the fruit that caused her and Adam to be dismissed from Heaven. But, i think everbody is burdened with sth according to his/her capacity. So, if you have a big challange to cope with, that means you have the potential to overcome it. In my own life, the most challanging thing is to change other people’s ideas, attitudes. When i said i want to study English as a branch, everybody opposed to my ideal. They said it is better, more prestigious and of course, more satisfyingfrom the salary aspect to be a DOCTOR. But,even you give me the certificate for nothing, I will refuse. It was then a matter of my not attending school if i did not take notice of what they want. In the end , as you see, i ended up studying what i want. If you have enough courage to defend , to go after your dreams , nothing can stand against you. So just take action to realize your own dreams because they are your bread.

Yavuz Selim Khan is as you see, is frowning eyebrowed and long moustached. He was brave and fond of fighting, but very sensitive in daily life and was writing very good poems.Like all Ottoman sultans, he was educated and brought well.He had vast knowledge on politics and culture. He had a very successful spy organisation and had information from all around world. He was especially successful in choosing his officers. He was modest and would eat one kind of dish on every meal, use wooden plates. During his reign the treasury was completely full and he never spent Empire's money.Because of his contributions to Islam world, caliphate was passed to Ottomans. From the time of Yavuz, Ottoman sultans began to be the Sultans of all Islamic World. Also,he was the first commander to pass the horrible Desert of Sina in 13 days.Hunderts of years in this desert was no drop of a rain but when he and his army was passing it was began to rain.He had a very short (4 years) but victorious reign and he enlargened Ottoman territories three times larger. He had perhaps the most important role in the apogee of the Ottoman Empire. He was a talented lider and commander and had a high soul for his citizens.

Another film starring John Cusack .Directed by James Mangold ,the film Identitiy is based on a Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery And Then There Were None .The film is about multiple personality and if you haven't read the book, it is impossible to guess the murderer. The cast goes like that;John Cusack as ex-cop and chauffeur Ed; a police officer named Rhodes (Ray Liotta) who's transporting a dangerous convict (Jake Busey); spoiled movie starlet and Ed's passenger Caroline Suzanne (Rebecca De Mornay); Amanda Peet as the life-changing hooker Paris; beleaguered husband George York (John C. McGinley), his injured wife Alice (Leila Kenzle) and their son Timothy (Bret Loehr); motel owner Larry (John Hawkes); and newlyweds Ginny (Clea DuVall) and Lou (William Lee Scott). There are actually two stories intersectingcwith each other. The fate brings ten strangers together seeking shelter from a storm. These ten random people are started to be killed by a psychotic killer whose identity shifts from one person to another. The second story is focused on Alfred Molina as a psychologist who discovers the reason behind a convicted, sentenced to die murderer committed murders. He believes that he can't be held responsible for his actions because he has multiple identities. The murderer is actually in the identity of the little boy and murderer finally kill his psychologist.(he is too humanistic)What i like most was the performance by john and theme is really attracting me.
suppose a beatiful, attractive,Aphorodite like woman lying on her back holding her hair over waterfall. The purity of water and the innocence of white are flowing from her hair. The redness after the sun sets is glowing in her face like the stains in sheet giving us some clues about her passions. The rocks just seem ignorant to what she has in deep and even they are chatting face to face about something else. Waves are rushing to catch the woman’s hair before sunset. She has closed her eyes with sun’s going down . Maybe she will be awaken to another day by the proud, purple sky. The branches from two sides of woman are as gren as our newly sprung hopes.

Imagine an earthlike egg and a man piercing its crust despite his being just bones and skin. The drop of blood coming from tortured egg is as the sign of men suffering and a compliment to the bitter expression of woman. The child ,red apple, clings to his mother's legs waiting anxiously for his father's coming out of egg. The nakedness of people reminds us of men's lonely journey to earth. The pain of birth, the first pace of man on earth, ambiguity of men's future are apparent from people's posture. The dark yellow of sky adds to the sadness of scene.

back from death

I will talk about an experience of my own.I was 12.
It started out to be a simple exploratory operation. Then suddenly, my heart stopped. My brain waves starded leveling off.the medical team immediately began emergency treatment to try to start the heart again. At last the chief surgeon announced that me, the patient had died.Minutes later, much to everyone’s amazament, ‘’dead’’ came back to life.Experts admitted that they had no satisfactory explanation for that dead experience.
You would ask what it was like to be’’dead’’ or how you remember all those things if you were dead, even what did you crave for so painfully that you came back? The answers are personel or there is no need to have answers.Just think of your own life. What would make you come back? Your friends, family, darling? I think none of these.Just the enchanting power of lifeWe do not have to die and come back for understanding what we are granted. Even when you were told that you will go to heaven , you would ask for a second chance in life.but there is no second chance. You can not challange time nor you can blame others for what you did not live.Life is an elastic ball it is utterly in your hands but we just understand the value of something when we lose it.

an eccentiric surrealist

Salvador Dali is known as the leader of Surrealist movement but once he was clashed with surrealists and expelled from surrealists group though it may seem as weird as his character. As an artist Dali was not limited to a particular style. The body of his work reveals a constantly growing and evolving artist. Dali worked with all media leaving behind a wealth of oils, watercolors, drawings, graphics, sculpture, photographs…I think the eccentricity in him caused him to explore all aspects of one’s own life and give them artistic expression. I do not know if he was working from pure inspiration or something else, but his matchless insight and symbolic complexity are above all artists. His excellence as an creative artist set a standart for modern art. When i look at his paintings, i am shocked by his absurd use of objects, human…to express deep parts of thought, emotions and beliefs. İ mostly love his the Persistence of Memory, with the soft or melting watches. I find myself so close to him and think we have equal souls just as he was thinking of himself as the reancarnation of his dead brother. Things i could not express find meaning(soul) with his portrayal of our hidden parts. I think anybody can explore something in himself just a bit time with Salvador Dali

get busy livin' or get busy dyin'

''FEAR can hold you prisoner,HOPE can set you free.'' i am talking about 1994 film ''The Shawshank Redemption''. First i have to say i was too impressed by this quotation because it means a lot from social point of view. The film was adopted from a short story of the same name by Stephen King. Directed by Frank Darabont it was nominated for 7 oscars and another 13 wins. The genre is drama and Tim Robbins(Andy Dufresne in film), Morgan Freeman(Red Ellis) form an excellent conformity.Andy is a young and successful banker. He is convicted of and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. He stubbornly proclaim innocence, but after the murder he is sent Shawshank Prison. At first he is introvert but later form an unlikely friendship with prison fixer Red and his gang.Ugly realities of prison are introduced. A corrupt warden (Bob Gunton), sadistic guards led by Capt. Byron Hadley(Clancy Brown)...He become popular with prison guards. Prison warden take advantage of his banking skills by exchanging priveleges for bookkeeping.Over twenty years he maintain dignity by mental force.Director recreate drudgery and hopelessness of prison life.Hardened criminals with little hope for the future... But HOPE is the ultimate way of survival.People can not touch or get to hope. For this film i can say it has slowly captivating scenes that build atmoshere without sacrificing thematic integrity. For a new perspective of life i think you should watch it if you haven't done so. Also, you will be thrilled by the performance of Morgan Freemen.

God is dead and Friederich Nietzsche

Famous philosopher and philologist wrote critical texts on religion, morality, contemporary culture that still raise considerable problems of interpretation. Shallow thinkers may not catch the deep meaning under his words. So i think, he is a hard nut to crack but it is worth to try. His influence remains substantial on existentialism and postmodernism. He has radical ideas including interpreting tragedy as an affirmative of life,an eternal occurrence, a rejection of Platonism, will to power, ethnicity, nationality...His some ideas go so extreme that he is often labelled as atheist or enemy of women. But i don't think he is so. Even his words ''women are baby making machines that are utterly subordinate to the desires and goals of men'' do not annoy me. i think he said so because he wanted to make men guestion their beliefs about women and we, women,to think of our purpose.but there is a gossip going around about what make him think of women as lesser creatures. it is his beloved ones leaving him and instead of him choosing FREUD.i do not know if it is true or not but i know that he is a man of deep thougts. Here is some of his famous quatations:'' what does not destroy me , makes me strong'' ,''there are no eternal facts, as there are no abslote truths'',man alone suffers so excruciatingly in the world that he was compelled to invent laughter'',''we are terrified by the idea of being terrified'',''what is it: is man only a blunder of God or God only a blunder of man?'',''love your enemies because they bring out the best in you'',''a joke is an epigramon the death of a feeling''. There is a lot to write but these may give some idea about his excellent use of language , his critical and eccentric thinking.

martian child- the story of a man becoming a father and a story of a boy becoming a son

Directed by Menno Meyjes starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet,Bobby Coleman; based on 1995 Hugo Award, 1994 Nebula Award winning novel David Gerrold by the same name.Meyjes, the director of the movie, also wrote a directed MAX in which John Cusack plays Max Rothman, an art dealer tutoring a young Hitler. Certain groups protested the film , as they felt it was trying to humanize Hitler. Cusack( starring in high fidelity, identity,1408)plays David, the widowed novelist whose popular sci-fi book is being turned into a movie.David decides to follow up on his wife's dream of adopting a child.Enter dennis, a pale, sligh boy who is utterly convinced he was brough to earth by Martians to study Earthing life.He shies away from sun and wears a weigh belt, lest he float away. The boy playing the painfully awkward Dennis has such a high pitched voice thatis so strange sounding that you sometimes wonder if he is an alien. The two guys seem perfectly suited to each other, mutual love of all things, outer space and all.The dawning realization on David's face that he and his adopted son are not so different.Neither of them are meeting the expectations of their fellow Earthlings. What makes the film compelling are the actors who bring brightness to these fairly cut and dry roles. A fan of John Cusack myself, i can say he is the main reason to seethe film. If not for his charm and quick wit, keen intelligence, quirky appeal, this film could easily turn into slick sentimentality and maudlin predictability.Cusack has proven himself one more time.
